A New York firm wants to bring luxury bathrooms to Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal.

POSH Stow and Go, purveyors of private lockers, storage rooms, private powder rooms and luxury showers, wants to bring $8-per-day lavatories to a Midtown spot by this summer, company founder Wayne Parks told the New York Post. The lavish stations would include clean, safe and soundproof toilets, as well as lockers, showers and baby-changing stations. Nursing stations may also be added later.

“I’m a germaphobe and I don’t like dirty bathrooms — it grosses me out,” Parks told the Post. “But these are great because they are cleaned after every use.”

Passes for the proposed pit stop would cost $24 for three days, $60 for 10, or $8 per day, on top of a $15 annual sign-up fee.

Douglas Lasdon of the Urban Justice Center pooh-poohed the plan, saying he thought it unlikely that New York residents and travelers would pay such a premium, and past attempts by Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani to set up a street toilet network tanked after community groups blasted their respective plans.

Undeterred, Parks told the Post he aspires to add dozens of his posh potties to Manhattan’s cityscape, with an eye toward travelers visiting Manhattan on day trips. [NYP]Julie Strickland

    WHY!?
    Day trips to Manhattan?
Those that do them… either shop, eat at a restaurant, see a show or game then leave right afterwards and or want to get out of the city and back home asap so need for this stupid idea.
