Architect Richard Meier designs luxury towers in Bogota

The residential project is the architect’s first in the Columbian capital

WEEKENDEDITION Acclaimed architect Richard Meier has unveiled designs for his first project in Bogota: two 13-story residential towers, dubbed Vitrvm. The buildings will include 36 apartments along Septima Avenue in the north section of the Columbian capital.

“The project is contextually inspired by the beauty of its immediate surroundings,” Richard Meier and Partners said in a statement. “It aims to reflect and to engage the beautiful gardens and large trees at the Chico Park and the Seminario Mayor,” a prominent seminary in Colombia.

According to Achdaily, Tower 1 will be characterized by a prismatic structure articulated by folds, planes and carved surfaces. In juxtaposition, Tower 2 will feature a rectangular shape, defined by two solid punctuated planes.

“The project’s transparent minimal form is a striking addition to the Bogota skyline,” Meier said. “At dawn and dusk light will filter through the residential modules providing for particularly animated light conditions.
