Commercial real estate titan Charles Cohen, residential developer Peter Fine, and Brooklyn developer Douglas Steiner have all used their business savvy to get into the entertainment business, according to the New York Times.

Cohen runs Cohen Media Group, a film distribution and production company. The firm has brought an astounding 15 foreign and indie films to theaters in the last year. On the other hand, Fine has become a successful Broadway producer, most notably for the Tony Award-winning musical “In the Heights.” And last but not least, Steiner is the chairman of Steiner Studios, the largest film and TV production complex on the East Coast.

“I’m very tenacious,” Steiner, who had no experience when he dove into the movie industry, told the Times. “A lot of people in the city took a chance on me, because I wasn’t in the business and I shook hands with them and I told them if they supported me, I wouldn’t let them down: I’d do the project.” [NYT] Christopher Cameron
