An Astoria art tenant has opened the neighborhood’s first coworking establishment as the red-hot shared office market spills over into Queens.
Create NY Space is located at 35-18 37th Street, between 35th and 36th avenues next door to the Museum of Moving Images. A Manhasset, N.Y.-based limited liability company, Kassabian Associates, is listed as the owner on property records, but tenant Aurora Gallery is presenting the space, according to the website.
The double-height space is much smaller than the city’s shared office giants WeWork and Regus at 28,000 square feet, but will offer work areas and meeting rooms, as well as high-speed Internet and a beverage bar boasting a “bottomless cup of coffee.”
Shared office space providers are among the city’s fastest-growing tenants, with a combined footprint of over 2.8 million square feet across major Manhattan submarkets, as The Real Deal previously reported. [Brownstoner] — Angela Hunt
