Manhattan’s first Dairy Queen will open in May in a spot once home to Fabco Shoes.

The Berkshire Hathaway company, which owns the Edina, Minnesota-based chain, officially announced Dairy Queen’s planned opening on Tuesday. The eatery, spread across 2,500 square feet on two levels, will house 60 seats downstairs and 50 on the upper level.

“We are bringing the world famous Blizzard Treat, the cone with the signature curl on top, and delicious Orange Julius beverages to our fans in New York City,” John Gainor, president and chief executive of International Dairy Queen Corporation, said in a prepared statement.

Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway holding company picked up the Dairy Queen chain in 1998, and the eatery’s Manhattan opening marks the third in the New York City area, following new locales in Massapequa and the Staten Island Ferry Terminal last year. [NYO]Julie Strickland

Never trust a company called Dairy Queen to be selling meat. It may come from the same animal, but thats where it ends….
