Nasdaq exchanging atrium for TV space in $10M makeover
MarketSite at 4 Times Square to gain studio for on-air reports
The Nasdaq stock exchange plans to pay $10 million to vastly upgrade the interior of its MarketSite space at 4 Times Square.
The company will remove the atrium that connects to the second floor and instead install an extra studio for delivering on-air market reports. It will also gain new elevators facing Times Square, and more space for corporate events and conferences. The renovation is slated for completion by the end of June.
The Durst Organization leased the space to Nasdaq in 2000, for the purpose of holding ceremonies and ringing the opening and closing bells. Fellow tenants include Condé Nast and H&M.
Nasdaq’s office space in Manhattan has grown by 26 percent since 2009, the Wall Street Journal reported. [WSJ] — Mark Maurer
