UPDATE, 9:19 a.m., April 21: Lego plans to open its new flagship store at L&L Holding Companies’ 200 Fifth Avenue near West 23rd Street in the Flatiron District in mid-July.

In 2012, Lego Systems Inc. inked a 10-year lease for the 3,535-square-foot retail space, as well as a 481-square-foot reading and play area. The asking rent was $500 per square foot. Construction began on the site shortly after. The grand opening is set to occur in August.

Last year, Buzzfeed signed a deal to sublease the full eighth floor of 57,691 square feet at the building. [DNAinfo]Mark Maurer

Legos are insanely expensive for what they are. How do they get away with that kind of pricing?
