Nothing like an Upper East Side buy to go with a television contract extension. “Good Morning America” co-anchor and longtime political correspondent George Stephanopoulos has dished out $2.2 million for a Lenox Hill co-op pad, according to property records filed with the city Friday.

The ABC stalwart and his comedian wife Alexandra “Ali” Wentworth bought the two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment on the 10th floor at 30 East 72nd Street, located between Madison and Park avenues. The seller, Caroline Mullen, paid $1.7 million for it in 2005.

Stephanopoulos and Wentworth also own a 3,300-square-foot, ninth-floor apartment at the property, which they bought for $6.5 million in 2010, after the couple moved from the capital so that Stephanopoulos could take on the “Good Morning America” gig. ABC announced last week that it had renewed the anchor’s contract for five years. The couple is reportedly searching for another Hamptons home, after they sold their East Hampton pad for $5.1 million in 2012.

Representatives for Stephanopoulos couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
