The Lower East Side intersections where Ludlow and Orchard streets cross Canal and dead-end into Division are set to see three hip new eateries and a cocktail bar.

Cochinita Dos, a taqueria originating in Clinton Hill, will soon take 49 Canal Street, while just a few doors down at 43 Canal Street, the popular Williamsburg fried chicken and desserts joint, Pies ‘n’ Thighs, is opening shop, according to the Lo-Down.

Barely a block away, Ludlow Inn, a small wood-fired oven pizza stand is opening a 1 Ludlow Street, along with Three Points, an craft cocktail bar run by the owners of East Village staple, Angel’s Share.

“The whole block has just kind of turned around,” said Laure Travers, who opened Clandestino at 49 Canal Street in 2005. “It’s a dynamic city–things change.”

Three of the four businesses are moving into spaces that have been vacant for years.

“This is a home run for the block and for the neighborhood,” Ross Morgan, the owner of 1 Ludlow Street, said. “It’s been a long time coming, but we’re there now.” [Lo-Down]Christopher Cameron
