The price tag on Katharine Hepburn’s sprawling Connecticut estate is now down to a mere $14.8 million.
The home, which first hit the market in 2011 for $28 million and went up to $30 million a year later before dropping to $18 million in 2013, is owned by Frank Sciame, CEO of the eponymous construction company, and his wife. Sciame bought the property in 2004 for $6 million.
The current ask only applies to an adjacent 1.47 acres, while the earlier price tags included 3.6 acres of land. But despite the reduction, the property would still snag a record for Old Saybrook, Conn. should it close at $14.8 million.
The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom house spans more than 8,300 square feet.
When Sciame bought the property, he planned to renovate and sell the home, which had been in the Hepburn family since 1913. Reportedly, he and his family “fell in love with it,” and he and his family spent summers there themselves before putting the property back on the market.
