Rentals-in-demand

Two-bedroom rental units in Manhattan continued their ascent among prospective renters last week, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website. The apartment type drove 44 percent of the leads, up from 31 percent the week before.

That week, two-bedrooms were just barely ahead of studios, but now they’re far ahead of the competition. Studios had 24 percent of the leads, while one-bedrooms and three-bedrooms tied with 16 percent apiece. Two-bedrooms had a median rent inquiry of $3,025 per month, data show.

The priciest inquiry last week was for a five-bedroom rental in the Flatiron District asking $13,000 per month. The most popular neighborhoods were, in order, the Upper East Side, East Village, Greenwich Village, the Upper West Side and Kip’s Bay.

Methodology: Zumper determined the rankings by using a representative sample of emails and phone calls from renters interested in its Manhattan listings available for the week ending June 8. — Mark Maurer
