WEEKENDEDITION Many buildings have come and gone in New York City since the rise of the skyscraper, but occasionally super tall buildings have themselves been razed.

Here is a countdown of the top five tallest structures to be demolished intentionally by their owners from Buzzbuzzhome. If the list were expanded to all tall structures that are no longer standing, numbers one, two and four would be occupied by the three World Trade Center buildings that fell on September 11th, 2001.

Data comes from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the recognized authority on skyscraper height, according to Buzzbuzzhome.
