City Planning nominees will tackle study on rezoning to achieve greater density

Mayor Bill de Blasio submitted his nominations to three seats on the City Planning Commission and one to the Landmarks Commission.

One of the biggest tasks for the City Planning nominees to the City Planning Commission is overseeing a study that will provide a way forward for the city’s rezoning efforts, reports Crain’s. The goal is to identify up to 15 neighborhoods that can be rezoned to accommodate greater density and meet the mayor’s affordable housing goals.

Larisa Ortiz, founder of planning firm Larisa Ortiz Associates, has worked domestically and abroad with governments, nonprofits and economic development entities, according to Crain’s.

Bomee Jung has worked on multimillion-dollar sustainable development projects as deputy director of the New York City Office of Enterprise Community Partners.

Cheryl Cohen Effron has focused her real estate development career on turning warehouse space into manufacturing and production centers, and served on de Blasio’s transition committee, according to Crain’s.
