Vice Media will move to new Williamsburg headquarters

Quickly-growing media company Vice is moving to new 60,000-square-foot digs in Williamsburg as it seeks to more than double its workforce.

The company has called 90 North 11th Street in Williamsburg its home since 2004, but will soon move its headquarters to a former industrial building at South 2nd Street at Kent Avenue, a stone’s throw from Two Trees’ Domino Sugar development, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The state is set to award Vice $6.5 million in tax incentives if it meets hiring targets, according to the Journal. Vice, which expects to hire 525 employees, currently employs about 400 people.

Online marketplace Etsy took advantage of similar incentives when it agreed to take 200,000 square feet in Jared Kushner’s Dumbo Heights Complex in May, the Journal reported.

“New York is the media and entertainment capital of the world, and it serves as the perfect location for the global headquarters of a fast-growing multimedia company like VICE,” Kenneth Adams, president and chief executive of Empire State Development, told the Journal. [WSJ] — Tom DiChristopher
