The home was nearly destroyed in the 1980s
A home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright was almost destroyed by tasteless renovators in the 1980s. Luckily, the property was saved in the 1990s by an architecture enthusiast, and now it’s on the market asking $3.195 million.
In the 80s, the owners of this Houston estate added “tacky new columns and decorative, roof-top pineapples,” to a classic bit of modernist architecture, forcing developers to consider razing the structure.
But in 1991 the home was restored to its former glory, and a larger kitchen, kids’ bedrooms and a master suite were added. Now, the six-bedroom, 1,800-square-foot home is back on the market. [Curbed] – Christopher Cameron
