546 Broadway in Soho

Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo renewed the lease for its 52,500-square-foot, three-level New York flagship space in Soho for the next 10 years, The Real Deal has learned.

Real estate investor Isaac Chetrit owns the five-story, 95,500-square-foot property at 546-548 Broadway, also known as 80-82 Crosby Street. In addition to Uniqlo, the building holds 15 apartment rental units and four office spaces.

The retailer committed to a lease there in 2006, marking its debut in the city. The company now has locations at 666 Fifth Avenue and 31 West 34th Street in Midtown; 139 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn; and the Staten Island Mall.

Each floor at Uniqlo’s Soho store is roughly 17,000 square feet. Lansco Corporation represented both the landlord and the tenant in the initial deal.

“The Uniqlo store in Soho features great prominence, a fantastic layout and an amazing buildout,” Jared Epstein, co-founder of the Soho Broadway Business Improvement District  and principal at Aurora Capital Associates, said in a statement to The Real Deal. “It is one of Soho’s retail jewels. I’m glad to know Uniqlo has made a long-term commitment to Broadway.”

Japan’s most popular clothing company opened its first shop in Hiroshima in 1984.

Neither Uniqlo nor Chetrit could be immediately reached for comment.

Earlier this year, Chetrit acquired a 415,000-square-foot, 24-story office property at 1412 Broadway and the adjacent 7,000-square-foot, three-story retail property at 1420 Broadway in the Garment District for a total of $268 million, as The Real Deal reported.
