Paul Rudolph’s iconic home relists asking $28M

The modernist home was featured in Wes Anderson’s "The Royal Tenenbaums"

The former home of architect Paul Rudolph, the late former dean of the Yale School of Architecture, is back on the market asking $28 million.

The four-unit townhouse, which has won two AIA awards, has been off the market since 2012 when it last listed for $27.5 million, according to Curbed.

In 1976, Rudolph purchased the 1930s townhouse, located nearly on the East River at 23 Beekman Place between East 50th and East 51st streets, and ripped off the roof to install a 3,000-square-foot, triplex penthouse. He then created one of the most striking examples of modern urban domestic architecture out there, which Wes Anderson fans will recognize as the home of Ben Stiller’s character in “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
