It turns out that a Central Park view is more popular than a beachfront vista.

New York City ranks as the world’s second most popular spot for millionaires in the market for a second home, according to a study from New World Wealth cited by CNBC. The city is home to about 17,400 pied-à-terres owned by multimillionaires.

CNBC also notes that the majority of those owners reside elsewhere in the United States, despite the buzz around blockbuster sales to foreign investors.

London took the top spot with 22,300 multimillionaires owning part-time properties within the city limits. Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai rounded out the top 5. Occupying spot number 6, the Hamptons was the top beach destination of the bunch with 7,800 second homes sometimes occupied by the super wealthy. [CNBC]Tom DiChristopher
