Developer Sarjay Patel filed plans for a nine-story, 30,000-square-foot hotel in the South Bronx.
The planned 75-room hotel at 335 Grand Concourse, near East 140th Street, is moving forward thanks to the Lower Concourse rezoning in 2009. Forest Hills-based architect James Cheng is handling design.
Patel told YIMBY that the property will be “high-end” hotel, located within walking distance of Yankee Stadium.
The project will be the latest in a string of lodgings to sprout in The Area Since Bed And Breakfast Mi Casa Tu Casa Opened On East 150th Street and the Grand Concourse hit East 150th Street in 2006, according to website Welcome to the Bronx. Days Inn opened a hotel in northern Melrose on Brook Avenue and 165th Street in 2010, and the Andrew Freedman Home at 1125 Grand Concourse opened a bed and breakfast in the southern wing of its landmark building in 2012. When the Opera House Hotel, housed in the old Bronx Opera House, joined the scene last year, the property brought the borough its first luxury boutique hotel since 1974. [NY YIMBY] — Mark Maurer
