Construction renders UES mansion unmarketable: suit

A years-long renovation of an Upper East Side home is making it difficult to sell adjacent properties.

A broker recently refused to list $25 million mansion next to the renovation up for sale, fearing it’d be impossible to sell. And a lawsuit from retired Simon & Schuster executive Dick Snyder agrees with that. Snyder, 81, is suing neighbors Meredith and Bryan Verona for $60 million, according to the New York Post. Snyder is trying to sell his 11,000-square-foot townhouse at 120 East 78th Street.

Scaffolding and construction garbage from the renovations at 122 East 78th Street, however, are not making his property more appealing. Snyder put the property on the market about six months ago, the Post reported, but so far nobody has expressed interest.
