November 3. It’s a date.

One World Trade Center, the tallest skyscraper in North America, is set to open that day, when Condé Nast — the tower’s anchor tenant — starts the process of moving its employees into the building. The move will go in phases and will take the company until January.

The opening, however, won’t immediately be grand. A ceremony celebrating the building’s opening will likely occur later on in November after election day, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“Governor Cuomo’s and Governor Christie’s offices have been contacted and we are trying to find a mutual date that works,” a spokesman for the Port Authority told the newspaper. “But obviously the end of October is highly problematic for anyone who is at all aware of government and political reality.” [WSJ] — Claire Moses
