Los Angeles-based Fit Investment Corporation is bringing a 29-story hotel to the Financial District’s 50 Trinity Place.The developer applied for a permit to construct the 72,089-square-foot structure at on the corner of Trinity Place and Rector Street, according to the application filed with the Department of Buildings. Peter Poon is listed as the architect.
Fit Investment, led by Peter Zen, bought the site in 2012 for $15 million. Hotel developer Sam Chang had bought the site in 2005 for $13.5 million. Chang planned to build a hotel tower at the site with Gene Kaufman as the designer, but the project never came to fruition.
The building, close to the September 11 Memorial and Museum, will be 284 feet tall and include 188 hotel rooms.
