Reality TV star and luxury broker Fredrik Eklund is declaring Douglas Elliman history — taking to Instagram to claim that the Eklund Gomes Team has closed more commissions so far this year than any other team in the firm’s history.
“Today is a big day!” Eklund said in his post. “I want you to know you are following not only the number one agent in NYC, but the number one agent in NYC this century.” The star of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing also gave a shout out to Elliman Chairman Howard Lorber and President Dottie Herman, as well as to business partner John Gomes and Eklund’s husband Derek.
It wasn’t immediately clear how many closings the team logged this year. The claim could not be confirmed by Douglas Elliman, and a spokesperson for the brokerage did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Eklund ranked No. 1 on The Real Deal’s ranking earlier this year, with $535.53 million in listings this year, compared with just $92.21 million last year. More than half of the team’s listings came from new development listings, according to the data, provided by the listings portal On-Line Residential in May. Eklund and Gomes were Elliman’s No. 1 team nationwide last year.
In the past few weeks, the team launched sales at one of its biggest projects at GB Lodging and GFI Development’s hotel-condo project at 5 Beekman Street. Since launching in October, the team has sold a quarter of the Beekman Residence’s 68 condos for an average of $2,200 per square foot.
