Larry Silverstein named Tal Kerret the new president of Silverstein Properties, the developer said in a statement today. Kerret joined the company in 2011 as an executive vice president and has served as the firm’s chief investment officer since January 2013.

Kerret will be responsible for managing the company’s portfolio, devising new growth strategies and acting as a liaison to investors, according to the developer.

While at Silverstein, Kerret launched Silver Suites Offices at 7 World Trade Center, a prebuilt office space for young and growing companies. He also oversees Silver Suites Residences at Silver Towers and at Beekman Tower. Prior to joining the developer, he founded and headed up two technology and media companies and served as an officer in the Israel Defense Forces.

“I am delighted to appoint Tal to the position of President,” Larry Silverstein said in the statement. “Over the past four years, he has proven himself to be an outstanding professional and a great asset to our company. Even as the leadership of Silverstein Properties is undergoing a professional transition under our CEO Marty Burger, we continue to be a family company,” Silverstein said in his announcement. Kerret is married to Larry Silverstein’s daughter, Lisa Silverstein.

In 2013, Silverstein stepped down as CEO and was replaced by Marty Burger, who had been his co-CEO since 2011. He continues to serve as the company’s chair.
