Steepest, cheapest listings in Manhattan this week
High end: a block-long wrap-around terrace; Low end: a bike room
Douglas Elliman’s Katherine Gauthier and Eva Penson had the priciest listing this week with a $39 million penthouse at the Whitney at 33 East 74th Street. The nearly 5,600-square-foot unit has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. The unit features a 2,440-square-foot, block-long wraparound terrace. The price works out to $6,993 per square foot, about three time the average price in the neighborhood.
Douglas Elliman’s Vickey Barron had the week’s second priciest listing with an 18th floor unit in the Walker Tower at 212 West 18th Street for $15.7 million. The 2,866-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The unit in the iconic Ralph Thomas Walker-designed building is $5,460 per square foot. The Walker Tower is home to a number of celebrities and Barron — who is the exclusive broker for the property — owns a unit as well.
The week’s third priciest listing was an 11th floor five-bedroom apartment at 737 Park Avenue for $13 million. The unit boasts open exposures to the south and east as well as a private elevator landing. The 4,719-square-foot apartment also has seven bathrooms. The price works out to $2,754 per square foot. Corcoran Group’s Hilary Landis had the listing.
On the cheap end, the week’s least expensive listing was a $220,000 four-bedroom apartment at 2090 Madison Avenue. The unit has one bathroom and was listed by Halstead Property’s Michael Coker. The unit has large bedrooms, oak wood floors, a dining alcove and a separate kitchen, according to the listing.
The second cheapest listing this week was a studio for $275,000 in Turtle Bay. The co-op at 310 East 49th Street has an entrance with three closets, according to the listing. Douglas Elliman’s Arthur Golden, Joel Caceres, Lee Sender and Polly Chang had the listing. The kitchen is separate from the rest of the studio.
A little less than 30 blocks north, another studio was also listed for $275,000. Douglas Elliman’s Lisa D’amico had the listing for a studio at 517 East 77th Street. No board approval is needed for this studio. The Beaux Arts building is landmarked and includes private planted courtyards, a bike room and a live-in superintendent, according to the listing. — Claire Moses
