UPDATED: 6:17 p.m., Jan. 10: A 98-acre estate on Muttontown Road on Long Island’s North Shore has sold. The asking price was $20 million, and according to Douglas Elliman broker Maria Babaev, the trade is a record for the area.
In a tweet, Babaev announced that the sale of the property known as Easton is “the largest land deal on the North Shore of Long Island.” That claim has yet to be confirmed (see update below).
Babaev, who worked with Raphael De Niro on the deal, also hinted that the buyers are foreign investors, adding #INTERNATIONALBUYERS to her tweet.
Update: Buyer’s broker Jason Friedman of Laffey Fine Homes in Great Neck, who handled the deal with his mother, Sarah Friedman, confirmed that the sale is neither a price, nor a land sale record for the North Shore. He confirmed that the undisclosed buyer is Chinese and that s/he paid the $20 million asking price. Last, year, Jason and Sarah Freidman sold a 30-acre property at 251 Searingtown Road in Manhasset for $36.5 million. Another nearby property at 225 Muttontown Road with 107 acres sold for $19 million. – Christopher Cameron
