Brandeis University sold its Upper East Side alumni house for $32 million, according to property records filed with the city today.

Tradeland and Investors Inc., a New York-based brokerage and management firm led by Richard Baldwin, is listed as the buyer of the five-story mansion at 12 East 77th Street, which could be turned into a single-family home. Baldwin could not immediately be reached on Monday afternoon.

The university listed the property — which used to be home to Gloria Vanderbilt’s father Reginald — in October for $33 million with Brown Harris Stevens’ John Burger and Ghislaine Absy. The building was used for events and housed some classrooms as well as an apartment on the top floor.

The university’s president, Fred Lawrence, announced his plan to sell in an email to alumni in September. He wrote that the proceeds of the sale will go into the school’s $766 million endowment.
