New York Yankees slugger Carlos Beltran scored a penthouse at 300 East 79th Street and Second Avenue for markedly less than the pad’s original $10 million price tag.
Along with wife Jessica Lugo, the Yankee outfielder picked up the 4,900-square-foot triplex penthouse for $9.38 million, the New York Daily News reported. The pair used an LLC to purchase the unit, which had been on the market since 2013.
The Upper East Side penthouse features a private 650-square-foot rooftop, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a dining room, a library, a media room and a grand staircase. Sloane Square Real Estate’s Jaar-Mel Sloan represented the seller.
Last October, Beltran sold his Weston, Fla. home for $4.1 million, or $400,000 below the listed asking price, as The Real Deal originally reported. Months earlier, he sold his massive Long Island mansion to make a return to New York City. [NYDN] –Kerry Barger
