From the South Florida website: 1 Hotel, the 426-room joint venture between Starwood Capital Group’s Barry Sternlicht and developer Richard LeFrak, opens Wednesday.

Developers, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and celebrity restaurateur Tom Colicchio will attend the opening, which will include the unveiling of the hotel’s “1” coral stone sculpture and a butterfly presentation by Wynwood-based Plant the Future.

1 Hotel, the first property of the 1 Hotels brand, will have three restaurants by Tom Colicchio, the hotel’s signature beachcraft, lobby lounge bar Tom on Collins, and poolside restaurant the Sandbox; as well as STK by the One Group.

Guest rooms average 700 square feet, according to a news release. The 426 rooms, which include 84 studio suites and one oceanfront presidential suite, will have Nespresso coffee machines, yoga mats and glass terrariums. The hotel component also includes four outdoor swimming pools, 57 cabanas and daybeds, and access to Tesla cars for guests traveling within a three-mile radius.

An 18,000-square-foot gym and spa is opening later this year. Debora Aguiar designed the spa and residences and Meyer Davis designed the interior of the LEED certified hotel, restaurant and gym.

In December, LeFrak said 100 out of 156 condos had sold at 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach. 1 Hotel is located at 2341 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. The residences will be at 2399 Collins Avenue.

1 Hotel & Homes South Beach was developed on the site of the former Gansevoort Hotel, which was last branded as the Perry South Beach. The property was sold to affiliates of Starwood, LeFrak and Invesco in February of 2012.
