UPDATED, April 22, 4:50 p.m.: A six-story office building at 40 Wooster Street in Soho is set for a residential conversion, after the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved plans for a restoration and rooftop addition.

Ran Eliasaf’s Northwind Group is developing the property, which it purchased for $16.4 million in 2014. The finished product will contain four apartments and ground-floor retail, Curbed reported.

The landmarked building was originally completed in 1896, and will now be restored and transformed by Melamed Architect, the project designer, and Easton Architects, the preservation architect. Representatives from each firm made the presentation to the commission yesterday.

Prior to the approval, Community Board 2 supported the restoration, but opposed the change of use. The commission approved both the restoration and conversion to residential. [Curbed] — Tess Hofmann
