Cartoonist Al Hirschfeld’s $9M former home comes with original mural

UPDATED, 4:00 p.m., April 27: An Upper East Side townhouse that was formerly home to the late caricaturist Al Hirschfeld is asking $9.2 million and features an eight-foot-tall original mural.

Paul and Denise Lachman, who purchased the home from Hirschfeld’s estate for $5.3 million 2011, recently put the townhouse at 122 East 95th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues, back on the market. Guthrie Garvin and Thomas Gammino Jr. of Cushman & Wakefield are the listing brokers.

The Lachmans renovated the property, which features four bedrooms, a roof deck, a terrace and a back garden, as well as an 8-foot-tall mural by Hirschfeld on the parlor floor, according to Curbed.

The 50-year-old mural was drawn in the home and includes depictions of Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Groucho Marx and Louis Armstrong. [Curbed] – Rey Mashayekhi
