Dean Skelos, New York Senate Majority Leader, surrendered to federal authorities on Monday morning. He will face federal corruption charges, and is being investigated in part for potentially improper dealings with Leonard Litwin’s Glenwood Management.

Skelos and his 32-year-old son Adam were hit with six counts of conspiracy, extortion and bribery, according to the New York Post.

Adam allegedly collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from a real estate developer (reportedly Glenwood) and an environmental technology company in return for help from the senator’s office, according to the complaint cited by the New York Post. Skelos, who is serving his 16th term, is the highest ranking Republican in the State Senate.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara launched an investigation into Skelos after Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was arrested in January, for an alleged $4 million bribery scheme tied to a real estate law firm. Glenwood Management’s Leonard Litwin turned out to be “developer 1” in the Silver case.
