Brasserie is out at Aby Rosen’s Seagram building

Iconic restaurant follows the Four Seasons exit

Following rumors that the Brasserie, the restaurant next door to the Four Seasons, would also be leaving Aby Rosen’s Seagram building at 375 Park Avenue, the developer has confirmed that the restaurant is looking to terminate its lease early.

“The Brasserie wants to terminate their lease early. With their departure we have the opportunity to reprogram all of the restaurant spaces in their entirety and reinvigorate the dining experience in New York’s two most iconoclastic restaurant spaces,” Sheldon Werdiger, head of marketing and design development for Rosen’s RFR Realty, told the New York Post.

It is still unclear what Rosen’s plans are for the space, which is attached to the Four Seasons. The Four Seasons’ lease at the Seagram building expires in 2016 and it is reportedly in talks to move to SL Green and Vorndo Realty Trust’s 280 Park Avenue.

Rosen has clashed with the Landmarks Conservancy over plans to renovate the landmarked interior of the restaurant, last year battling with them over the placement of a Pablo Picasso-painted tapestry. Rosen’s plans for renovation were put on hold in April. [NYP] — Tess Hofmann
