Manhattanites headed for the Hamptons can breathe a sigh of relief: A judge has temporarily blocked severe helicopter restrictions.

Uber may still be banned, but a Long Island federal judge ruled that officials cannot seriously limit air traffic into East Hampton, according to the New York Post.

In May, new rules were proposed to restrict individual helicopters to one trip per week after a three-year campaign by neighbors angered by the nonstop noise.

But a group of helicopter operators branding themselves “Friends of the East Hampton Airport” fought back. They sought an injunction in federal court, arguing that the local officials did not have the right to restrict air travel. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
