Extell Development and the Carlyle Group filed plans for the latest addition to Riverside Center: a 24-story residential property at 633 West 59th Street.
The building will have a total of 244 units, according to a permit application filed with the city’s Department of Buildings Wednesday. The filings show a pool on the cellar level, as well as ground-floor retail that will have a café. In all, the residential portion will span 326,189 square feet, with another 2,110 square feet to be used as a community facility and a 1,844-square-foot commercial space.
Extell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Riverside Center, a development of five residential towers and neighborhood amenities, spans eight acres stretching from 59th Street to 61st Street along Riverside Boulevard. It is slated to include 2,500 residential units, 140,000 square feet of retail space, an elementary school, a 250-room Hotel And A Public Plaza.
The 59th Street building would be neighbors with Elad Group and Silverstein Properties’ 42-story 1 West End Avenue, which has 246 apartments.
In April, Extell and Carlyle filed plans for a 36-story, 288-unit residential tower at 10 Lincoln Square, at the corner of West 59th Street and 12th Avenue.
That month, Boston-based GID Development Group acquired a portion of the Riverside Center project for $410.8 million. GID purchased 40 Riverside Boulevard, one of five buildings in the project.
