Judge orders striking workers on multiple NYC sites back to work

Dozens of striking construction workers in New York City are required to return to work today.

U.S. District Court judge Edgardo Ramos ruled that the New York City District Council of Carpenters violated their Project Labor Agreement, Capital New York reported. Mega development Hudson Yards is among the sites where workers seized work.

“At a time when union contractors are losing more and more market share to their non-union counterparts, for the carpenters union to stage illegal strikes on union sites where they had explicitly promised not to take such job actions sends the wrong message altogether,” Michael Salgo, executive director of the Cement League, an organization that represents concrete contractors, told Capital.
