A look at the 270-foot waterslide coming to Manhattan

The Summer Streets events will close seven miles of streets in Manhattan

All right, it’s more of a giant slip ‘n slide than a waterslide proper, but the summer novelty is guaranteed to attract crowds.

Brought to you by the city’s annual Summer Streets program this August, the best part of the 270-foot waterslide is that it is free. To participate, just register online and arrive at Foley Square 30 minutes before the assigned time slot, according to the New York Daily News.

The slide is officially dubbed Vita Coco Beach, so naturally, coconut water will be provided. Also, expect virtual technology that will “transport yourself to a beach,” palm trees and a misting station.

The festival will shut down seven miles of Streets Between Brooklyn Bridge And Central Park And Will Take Place on Saturdays August 1, 8 and 15 from 7 a.m. to 1p.m. [NYDN]Christopher Cameron
