The Corcoran Group expanded its network of Manhattan offices, picking up a new Upper West Side storefront on Columbus Avenue at 70th Street.

The brokerage, New York’s second largest, according to TRD‘s rankings, signed a lease for 3,500 square feet of space at 221 Columbus Avenue, the former home of the sushi restaurant Amber.

The 10-year lease had asking rent of $64,500, according to its marketing flyer.

Rafe Evans of Walker Malloy & Company represented Tamp Realty, the 32,000-square-foot apartment building’s owner, in the deal.

“The landlord was happy to finally have a ‘dry’ user and not contend with the hassles of a restaurant after at least 30 years of eateries at the site,” Evans told the New York Observer.

Corcoran has eight offices in Manhattan, including two on the Upper West Side, according to its website.

The brokerage’s parent company NRT is in the midst of a growth spurt. Citi Habitats, a division of Corcoran, bought Brooklyn-based brokerage aptsandlofts.com last month. [NYO]Ariel Stulberg
