After more than 40 years in business, Leslie J. Garfield & Co. may join forces with a London-based firm.

The residential brokerage announced on Monday that it has inked an agreement with Beauchamp Estates ahead of a possible merger between the two firms, Crain’s reported. The two firms, which both specialize in townhouses, have agreed to share customers and leads on properties, and to combine their marketing and public relations efforts. The next step would be a complete merger.

“We are trying this on for size and, if things go well, we will take the next step and make a formal exchange of equity,” Richard Pretsfelder, partner at Leslie J. Garfield, told Crain’s. “Our goal is to be a global player.”

Both firms hope the merger will help connect them with potential buyers in international markets. Leslie J. Garfield brings New York City expertise to the table, while Beauchamp offers up experience in England, France, Greece and Italy.
