The flamboyantly pink penthouse at the Beresford, which belonged to late “Sex and the Single Girl” author Helen Gurley Brown, is in contract after just a month on the market.

The four-level pad, which stretches up into one of the building’s iconic three towers at 211 Central Park West, was last priced at $20 million. Gabriele Devlin of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing.

Gurley, who edited Cosmopolitan for 32 years, and her late husband, theater and film producer David Brown, had owned the outlandishly-decorated apartment since the 1970s, when they bought it from director Mike Nichols. Gurley died in 2012, leaving the apartment to her estate.

The couple’s taste in décor – the apartment is decked out in blush pink carpets, lipstick-red paint, fuchsia and gold wallpaper and even pink drapes – did little to deter buyers. New York Times architecture critic Paul Goldberger once described the apartment as “the apex, the architectural climax of the building.

“It’s a spectacular property, one of a kind,” Devlin told The Real Deal. She declined to comment on the final price or the identity of the buyer.

The property has just two bedrooms but it comes with three separate terraces, including a nearly 2,300-square-foot outdoor space off the master bedroom, which is one of the largest on Central Park West.

The apartment sold particularly quickly for a unit in the star-studded Beresford, where apartments have been known to linger on the market for years. The priciest unit currently available at the building, a $17.46 million six-bedroom on the 18th and 19th floors, has been on the market for almost two years.
