Elliman hires manager Scott Durkin from rival Corcoran

Douglas Elliman has nabbed Scott Durkin, a longtime Corcoran Group manager and protégé of Barbara Corcoran, for a national post, sources told The Real Deal.

Durkin, a 25-year Corcoran veteran who most recently ran the firm’s Chelsea office, one of the firm’s busiest, will assume the role of executive vice president, where he’ll be tasked with expanding Elliman’s footprint nationwide.

Elliman has been expanding its national presence in recent years, starting with its expansion to California in 2013. The firm opened an outpost in Aspen in 2014 and last year made its debut in Beverly Hills, where it hired agent Josh Altman, a headliner on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles,” along with his brother Matt Altman.

Durkin, who worked as a manager at the Pierre Hotel before turning to real estate, became a protégé of Barbara Corcoran in the late 1990s, according to his bio. He held various managerial positions over the years, including founding director and manager of the Westside Gallery office; interim manager of the Village office; and COO and senior vice president of Corcoran Florida.

Durkin was also involved in the sale of the Corcoran Group to parent company NRT, a subsidiary of real estate conglomerate Realogy Holdings, as well as the acquisition of brokerages in the Hamptons and Palm Beach, Fla., according to Elliman.

In a statement, CEO Pamela Liebman praised Durkin’s leadership and wished him well in his new venture at Elliman.

Leigh Godwin, a senior manager director at Corcoran’s flagship office at 660 Madison Avenue, will now manage the Chelsea office, which recently moved into a new space at 218 West 18th Street that is double the size of its former digs.
