Entertainment industry hotshot Chris McGurk sold his Malibu mansion for just under $7 million, or about $1,220 a foot, ending a five-year quest to unload the zany property.

McGurk paid $6.67 million for the pad in 2004, so it hasn’t been the most lucrative investment. The 5,700-square-foot, three-story home has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and boasts 65 feet of prime frontage along El Matador State Beach. Other sweeteners, according to Variety, include an indoor swimming pool, a rarity in Malibu, and a media lounge. It was on and off the market for the past five years, and was once asking as much as $12.5 million, or nearly $2,200 a foot.

McGurk had better luck with his Beverly Hills mansion, which he sold in June for $16 million, having bought it for $3.77 million in 1996.

Stephen Shapiro and Mark Griskin of Westside Estate Agency brokered the deal. Alex Brunkhorst of the Agency was involved on the listing side. [Variety] — TRD
