Sports and entertainment real estate agent Kofi Nartey changed the affiliation of his Globl RED team to The Real Brokerage earlier this month. The Los Angeles-headquartered Globl RED had worked with Side since 2020.

Nartey said his team made the switch because he liked Real’s co-sponsored revenue sharing program which rewards agents with revenue for agents they directly attract to the brokerage. Headquartered in the Los Angeles area, Globl RED focuses on beach cities from Palos Verdes to Malibu and to downtown. Nartey also plans to build teams in Las Vegas, Arizona, Hawaii and other U.S. markets.

His plans call for further developing his sports and entertainment practices at Real. Previously, he started sports and entertainment departments at Compass and The Agency. In 2017, he wrote a book on his specialty titled “Sellebrity.” For the past seven years, he has worked with the NFL to talk to players about real estate opportunities.

His focus grew out of his experience. Nartey played college football for Cal Berkeley and in 1998, he played with the Raiders National Football League team before he was sidelined with an injury.

Working with sports figures is a lot more detailed than it looks, he said.

“It depends on where they are in their career — their rookie season, or their first or second year, that contract may be different from a veteran contract, or an extension on a deal. You may have a contract that might keep you in one place for three to five years,” he said. “More often, we’re dealing with more than the player. We’re dealing with a wealth advisor, a business manager and a sports agent who are part of the equation.”
