Villa di Venezia, the former Harold Vanderbilt estate in Manalapan
auctioned earlier this year for $22 million, is a prominent presence in
the December issue of Vanity Fair. An extensive article profiles
Randolph Hearst widow Veronica Hearst’s life and ownership of the
property and how she lost the 52-room, 28,000-square-foot Italian
Renaissance estate to foreclosure. Mortgage holder New Stream Capital
obtained the mansion at the foreclosure auction in February and then
sold it in March for $23.5 million to present owner Franklin T. Haney,
a developer of office buildings and hotels in the Southeast.
