The ACLU, along with a group of Florida news organizations, is fighting
to keep open access to foreclosure proceedings. In a letter to Chief
Justice Charles T. Canady of the Florida Supreme Court, the groups
said that there have been numerous reports of barriers to access for
the news media and the general public since August in several Florida
counties. The letter also referred to an incident in Jacksonville
when a legal aid attorney was told that she might be cited for contempt
of court after attending a foreclosure proceeding with a Rolling Stone
reporter. [Sun
