Jose Theodore and 238 South Maya Palm Drive
Florida Panthers goaltender and former NHL Most Valuable Player Jose Theodore has paid $5.35 million for a property at the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Boca Raton, according to Palm Beach County Clerk’s office.
The house is located at 238 South Maya Palm Drive. Bonnie and W. Joseph Scaggs were the sellers, according to the deed. They were represented by David Roberts of Royal Palm Properties.
Taxes on the property, which has a total of 8,883 square feet, are $34,692 this year, according to preliminary estimates on the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s website.
Roberts could not be reached for comment.
The home, which has five bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, was most recently listed for sale at $6.4 million, according to the Royal Palm’s in-house website.
The Scaggs bought the property in 2010 for $2 million from the Voelker Trust, the deed indicated.
Theodore won the Hart Memorial Trophy, the NHL’s MVP award, while playing for the Montreal Canadiens.
Theodore signed as a free agent this summer with the Panthers, who play at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.
