West Palm Beach post office latest victim of Postal Service real estate purge

The post office in the Southboro area of West Palm Beach is slated to close, the latest in a series of shuttered locations by the U.S. Postal Service, the Palm Beach Post reported. The office, which is located at 840 Southern Boulevard in the Southdale Shopping Center, will not have its lease renewed when it expires July 14. “We tried to renew them or downsize the branch,” said Michael Markman, president of landlord BET Investments. “But I was told that it was slated to close as a result of overall cuts that the postal service was making.” Last month, the Postal Service announced that it would be shuttering two large mail processing centers in Broward County.
