Suspended Ft. Lauderdale foreclosure mill head seeks return

Former Fort Lauderdale attorney and foreclosure mill chief Marshall Watson, who was suspended after pleading guilty to failing to supervise or train his employees, is seeking reinstatement.

As a result of the 91-day suspension by the Florida Bar in July, his company the Law Offices of Marshall C. Watson, which represented banks in more than 66,000 foreclosure cases in the state, was shut down. Last month, a petition to reinstate his license was filed. The matter is slated to be discussed in Florida Supreme Court in January, the Palm Beach Post reported.

Watson told the Palm Beach Post he is “extremely remorseful.”

Palm Beach County homeowners who filed complaints against are being consulted on the decision. William Wilson, for example, lost his condominium in West Palm Beach to foreclosure in 2010 after receiving a notice from the firm too late to be able to attend the hearing.

“I’m mad and still outraged at what Marshall Watson did, and I think it’s unfair,” said Wilson told the publication. “I still have financial damage.” [Palm Beach Post] — Mark Maurer
