The new owner of the vacant beachfront Fort Lauderdale hotel that was to be called Trump International has landed Hilton Worldwide to operate what will be known as the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Resort and Residences.

Owner CFLB Partnership has started a $34 million renovation to the 551 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard property, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The resort is expected to open in 2015. The 290-room resort would have one, two, three and four-bedroom units.

Prices for residences start at $450,000. CFLB Partnership paid $115 million for the property. It has a stake in the nearby Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.

Donald Trump pulled his name from the 24-story tower after a series of lawsuits and a bankruptcy filing. The Trump International Hotel and Tower was supposed to open four years ago. [Sun-Sentinel]Eric Kalis
