Widow refiles $100M lawsuit against Soffer

A $100 million wrongful death lawsuit against billionaire developer Jeffrey Soffer has been refiled in Miami-Dade Circuit Court.

The widow of Soffer’s friend Lance Valdez filed an amended complaint against Soffer on Friday, the New York Post reported. Daria Gogoleva first sued Soffer in federal court last month but withdrew the complaint a few weeks later. She claims Soffer was improperly flying a helicopter in a 2012 Bahamas crash that killed Valdez, a wealthy tax lawyer.

The amended suit claims Gogoleva was coaxed into signing a release that absolved Soffer of blame immediately after the crash. Soffer’s attorney blasted the revised lawsuit as rehashing “the same mistakes and false accusations” as the initial complaint. [New York Post] — Eric Kalis
